Peng Xang or the elephant song 1 and 2 are performances based on the remarkable humanity that elephants express to us.

Peng Xang or the elephant song (1) was staged in Laos, with Laotian actor-puppeteers. Turning everyday objects to new uses, it is impregnated with the culture of South East Asia, its music and its body language.

Peng Xang or the elephant song (2) was staged in Strasbourg with French actor-puppeteers. This re-staging took place after a two-month period of communication which allowed a real and close exchange between the two cultures. Far from trying to produce a copy, the same text was developed and adapted for the Western world.

The two performances were totally different but linked by their humour, their grace and the poetry of elephants.
